# Brownies

> Inference credits on Ethereum (chain id 1). BROWNIE is a coin launched through Programmable with a 2% tax on every
> buy and sell. Half of the tax pays for AI for the people who stake BROWNIE, as SUGAR. 1 SUGAR pays for 1 dollar
> of AI on the Brownies gateway, which speaks the OpenAI API and serves the OpenRouter catalogue.

## Facts

- The tax split is fixed in the Harvester contract: 50% to stakers as SUGAR, 40% to the protocol wallet, 10% as
  SUGAR into the team vault, which feeds the brownies, the four AI helpers that work for the coin (one thirtieth of the vault a day).
- A stake earns more with age: 10% more after 30 days, 20% after 90, 30% after 180.
- SUGAR has 6 decimals. It is minted only in a transaction that sends the same amount of USDC to the wallet that
  pays for the AI.
- Activating SUGAR burns it and credits dollars to a key on the gateway. Activation is final and the balance is
  not redeemable for cash.
- A key is a wallet's signature of "Brownies API key, chain 1, epoch N", written as sk-brownie-N-base64url(signature).
- The contracts cannot be paused or upgraded. Only the team vault has an owner (the Brownies team), who picks the
  helpers and can veto a skill payout, within limits fixed in the contract.
- The gateway and the wallet that buys model usage are operated by the Brownies team, not by contracts.
